Why did you choose to come to The Bulmershe School?

The Bulmershe school was the main choice for me when viewing other secondary schools in Year 6. Not only was I impressed by the high standard of teaching as well as the support the teachers gave the students, but I was impressed by the level of support present within the Bulmershe School. The support given to students to achieve their aspirations and dreams whilst also being supported by a community of students and teachers made me want to come here.

I am so proud of my decision to come to the Bulmershe School. The number of opportunities I have been given, such as my role of Head Student, would not have been possible without the support from my teachers and peers. I am proud to be a student at this great school.

How has The Bulmershe School inspired you to strive for your aspirations and dreams?

The Bulmershe School has done nothing but inspire me to achieve my aspirations, my goals and my dreams. The level of support given to me and students alike has enabled me to achieve the best possible version of myself. It has also given me the resilience needed to continue with the same work ethic even when things get tough. In addition to this, it has equipped me with the mindset and confidence that I know I can succeed.

How do you feel the co-curricular (extra-curricular clubs, trips, opportunities) experience at The Bulmershe School has benefited you?

Completing my EPQ at the Bulmershe School helped me gain an understanding of what the next step into higher education will be like. Writing my dissertation-style project allowed me to delve into a particular interest of mine, which is Museums and contested holdings. This experience has developed the essential skills such as being analytical, and I am now able to put forward a constructed and evidenced argument. This helps me in my own subjects as well as many other areas.

Other trips, such as Bushcraft in Year 7, theatre trips and the French trip in Year 11 helped me gain confidence and create lots of fun memories with my friends.

What would you say is your favourite moment so far in your time at The Bulmershe School?

I have really enjoyed every moment here at this school, but my favourite moment was becoming a Head Student. It was something that I aspired to be when I entered the school in Year 7 and with the support of my teachers, as well as my own resilience, I was able to achieve this role. This is my favourite moment because I am looking forward to displaying my own sense of pride for my school through this role and making a positive impact on the experience of all students attending the school.

What is your favourite subject and why? 

My favourite subject is English literature. I really enjoy reading and picking English Literature for one of my A-Level subjects was the right choice. Not only is the teaching informative, educational and exciting, but the range of literature we study and read makes me feel more enthused about the subject every day. This is why I am thinking about studying this subject further in higher education.

What advice would you give to a student about to join The Bulmershe School?

My best advice is don't be afraid to ask questions and to ask for support when you need it. The jump from primary to secondary school can be quite big and here at Bulmershe we have a range of services to support you, such as our SIGNAL Center, your Head of Year, and your teachers. This will help bridge the gap and feel supported by the vibrant and uplifting community here at the Bulmershe School.
